Revolution Trains

Post by mikeharvey23 on November 1st 2015, 10:51 am

Not everyone is aware of Revolution Trains. It is a small company set up by N gauge enthusiasts and specialising in crowd funding British Trains.

The first project was for the Alstom Virgin Pendolino Class 390. There is still time to order one of these before the quantity to be produced is frozen and production begins.

The second project is for the most recent design of petroleum wagon in service in Britain - the TEA 102 tonne tank wagon. There is still time to order from the wide range of colour schemes before production begins.

There are two projects at an earlier stage, testing how mush support there is for them. These are:-

1) diesel locomotives of Classes 21/29;
2) electric multiple units from classes 320/321 which come in 3 and 4 car sets.

Enthusiasts can express their interest on the Revolution Trains website. These projects will only advance to production if there is sufficient interest shown by signing up on the website.

I'm interested in the Class 21/29 as I have always fancied modelling the ex-GNSR lines in Aberdeenshire. Anyway, I have put my name down for a couple, but can't realistically see them meeting the 1200 target.

The news item on 01/02/2016 sets out the current results.

The Class21/29 did not receive enough support, but the Class 320/321 will go ahead subject finalising the pricing, and choosing the liveries.

The Pendolino is advancing with running samples expected soon. Detailed photos have been posted.
